1. Summary This
product bulletin announces the availability and release of the SAN Heterogeneous
Data Migration Service (SAN HDM). The SAN HDM is a comprehensive data
migration service which employs NetApp Professional Services delivery
methodology and data migration best practices across multi-vendor NAS storage
infrastructures. The
SAN Heterogeneous Data Migration Service is a Professional Service focused on
moving data at the block level from one or more NetApp or third-party storage
devices to one or more NetApp or third-party SAN storage devices. During the
delivery, this service may redirect all storage I/O to any new device(s)
involved in the migration. The
SAN Heterogeneous Data Migration Service supports a set of migration tools,
and provides the required information to help make the best tool selection
based on a defined set of criteria, including allowable downtime, amount and
type of data, data change rate, tolerance for agents, etc. 2. What’s New This SAN HDM Service makes use
of an all-new formalized approach to performing data migrations. A rich set
of pre-sales and post-sales collateral, including questionnaires,
scoping/sizing tools, and delivery design and implementation guides, is
provided to design and implement data migrations using highly structured
methods. This rich set of documentation helps Sales and pre-sales understand
customer needs and engage with Professional Services early on to make sure
that the SAN HDM is delivered consistently, cost-effectively, and reliably to
